It’s very rare when the Duxbury boys’ tennis team loses two matches in a week. It’s also rare when it face its two toughest opponents in the same week.
That led to a pair of defeats for the Dragons last week when they lost to Hingham and Cape Cod Academy by identical 3-2 scores.

The Lady Dragons saw their five-game winning streak come to an abrupt halt last Monday when they dropped a 10-1 decision to division leader Middleboro in Duxbury.
Duxbury came into the contest at 8-1 and hung close, trailing the Sachems 1-0 through three innings. The visitors’ bats exploded in the fourth inning for four runs on just two hits, opening the floodgates for five more runs in the seventh, as the usually reliable Duxbury defense and pitching faltered.

The Duxbury boys’ lacrosse team turned in its best performance of the year on Saturday afternoon when it beat nationally-ranked Niskayuna (NY), 8-7, on Sam Sweet’s goal with 13 seconds remaining.
What appeared to be a high-scoring affair when both teams scored a trio of goals in a 17-second span early in the first quarter, suddenly turned into a defensive struggle, as neither team was able to get more than a two-goal lead throughout the afternoon under overcast skies in Duxbury.
