Duxbury lacrosse has had many dramatic victories in its storied history. But few have come close to duplicating Thursday night’s showdown with undefeated and No. 1 ranked Lincoln-Sudbury HS.

The Duxbury High School sailing team has had an extremely successful season to date this spring. The varsity team has dominated their league with an undefeated record of six wins and no losses. They had key wins against Cape Cod Academy, St. John’s Prep, BBN, Hotchkiss, Milton, Portsmouth Abbey, Sharon, BC High, Hingham, Winchester and Barnstable.

Coach Chris Sweet could use some prayers if he hopes to complete his 2013 lacrosse season undefeated against Massachusetts high school teams.

It appears the Dragons are still the class of Massachusetts high school lacrosse. But once they go past the Commonwealth’s borders it seems to be a different story.

The Duxbury boys’ tennis team got its biggest win of the season on Thursday with a 3-2 win over Cape Cod Academy, advancing Duxbury’s record to 7-1 as the mid-season nears.

Expectations are always high before the Duxbury HS lacrosse season starts. No matter how many experienced seniors graduate every year, Coach Chris Sweet dips into the ranks of Duxbury Youth Lacrosse graduates and his teams never miss a beat.

The Duxbury High School Boosters Club in conjunction with the DHS Athletic Department will hold its fourth induction ceremony and dinner for 10 new members being inducted into the Duxbury HS Athletic Hall of Fame.

Duxbury Coach Bob Sullivan called Notre Dame the best 10-10 team in the state. But that didn’t seem to scare his Lady Dragon basketball team, as they treated the Cougars like they would any other .500 team and dominated inside in the first eight minutes while on their way to a 57-39 semifinal win at Massasoit Community College on Wednesday night in Brockton.

DHS senior wrestling captain Jake Genereux made it to the second day of competition at the New England Wrestling Championships in Providence, RI on Saturday, but his hopes of making it to the finals were shattered in a 1-0 loss to Connecticut state champion Zach Maxwell in the quarterfinals.

The DHS girls’ hockey team got back to form on Sunday night at the Gallo Arena in Bourne with a convincing 5-0 win over No. 8-seeded Archbishop Williams of Braintree.

end with several blocked shots and rebounds.

The Duxbury girls’ basketball team opened its post-season journey with a convincing 65-44 win over No. 13 seeded Hopkinton on Wednesday night in Duxbury. The win sends the Lady Dragons into Saturday afternoon’s quarterfinal action in Duxbury against No. 5-seeded Fontbonne Academy of Milton.

The Duxbury girls’ swimming and diving team ended its regular season with its 22nd consecutive Patriot League Championship over the weekend at the Lincoln-Hancock Pool in Quincy.
