The Duxbury Clipper took home four awards at the annual New England Newspaper and Press Association convention this weekend. Winning top prize in the “Infographics” category was former Clipper editor Justin Graeber for a chart on town snow budgets. Graeber also took third place in the science and technology category for an article chronicling a local resident’s role in the history of bar codes. Photographer Karen Wong won second place for her dramatic photo series on Island Creek Oysters. Reporter Susanna Sheehan also won a second place award in the “Right to Know” category for her coverage of the crackdown on “open forums” during town board meetings. Earlier this year the Clipper was also recognized as a “Distinguished Newspaper” by NENPA during a related newspaper competition. “I’m very proud of all our winners this year,” said Publisher Josh Cutler. “That a small, family-run newspaper like the Clipper continues to rack up these honors year after year is a testament to our hard-working staff and also to the residents of Duxbury who give us so much support.” This year’s New England Better Newspaper Competition drew nearly 3,000 entries from daily, weekly and specialty newspapers from a six-state region. A complete list of winner is available at nenpa.com. |
