Steppin’ Out. Do you love theater, opera or the ballet? Check out the Steppin’ Out program and sign up to for any of the scheduled events. The ticket price includes transportation from the Duxbury Senior Center. February events include the “Addams Family “at the Schubert Theater and a live broadcast from the Metropolitan Opera to the Randolph Cinema of “Verdi’s Ernani.” A brochure with a complete listing of events is available at the Duxbury Senior Center. New Hearing Loss Support Group. Join us at the Duxbury Senior Center on the fourth Monday of the month from 1 – 2 p.m. If you missed the first meeting in January, plan on joining us on Feb. 27. The group will be facilitated by Camille Clayton Debevetz. Come if you are having trouble learning to live with hearing loss. The group will provide emotional support and will share information and strategies. Senior Breakfast. The Duxbury Sidewalk and Bike Path Committee will be the featured guest to present their current project recommendations, including sidewalks for Depot Street. Join us for breakfast on Wednesday, Feb. 29 at 8:30 a.m. The cost for breakfast is $4. Please call the front desk at 781-934-5774, ext. 100 to make a reservation for breakfast. Free Movie Matinees. Did you know that you can go out with friends and see a movie for free? Come to the Senior Center Thursdays at 1 p.m. for our free weekly movie matinee. The listing of movies appears in the Duxbury Doings newsletter. We show many new releases and old favorites. We also show special features on many Tuesdays at 1 p.m. such as foreign films, art/independent films and chick flicks. Check the listings for each month. Oh, the Places We’ll Go. The Duxbury Senior Center’s Senior Bus, Sadie I, runs on a daily schedule Monday through Friday. To help plan trips, “Duxbury Doings,” our monthly newsletter, lists the complete daily Senior Bus schedule. Sadie I typically visits grocery stores, banks and the post office on Monday-Thursday afternoons. There is also a monthly trip to Trader Joe’s, typically on the second Friday morning of the month. Seniors who would like to take advantage of this helpful transportation must make a reservation for the bus must at least 24 hours in advance.
