Duxbury fire, police and the harbormaster spent two days over the weekend trying to free a pick-up truck and front end loader that became stuck off Powder Point Bridge Friday morning.

When Eliphas Weston married Priscilla Peterson he became the first Weston to hold land on Powder Point. Priscilla was the Pilgrim George Soule’s great granddaughter and she had inherited the property from her father, Isaac Peterson.

Town meeting voters ap- proved more than $400,000 for various unexpected expenses as a result of the February bliz- zard more commonly referred to as "Nemo."

As a huge storm lingers off the coast of Duxbury, many areas of town are experiencing massive flooding and some areas may see additional snow before the storm moves off the coast. Smarter Than a Duxbury Fifth Grader is Thursday, March 14 from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at the Duxbury Performing Arts Center. The Alden PTA would like to welcome you to a night of laughter and fun as the Duxbury fifth graders show their mad skills in a challenge against some brave few who are willing to find out if they are smarter than a Duxbury fifth grader. Tickets are $10 per adult, $5 per child, $30 max per family. Participating fifth graders do not need to buy a ticket. The town has broken off negotiations for a legal settlement with Johnson Golf Inc. and will proceed to trial, Duxbury selectmen announced Monday.

Opponents to water fluoridation in Duxbury say that the town is inadvertently adding lead to its water because that heavy metal is found in small concentrations in the town’s sodium fluoride additive.

Performing a steam-punk version of a well-known David Campton play, the high school theater group was one of 42 schools across the state to make it to the semi-final round in the state’s high school theater competition this weekend.
