To find Duxbury’s next town manager, the board of selectmen are veering from past practices of appointing a search committee and hiring a consultant; instead they plan to rely on a “hiring team” made up of themselves, the town’s volunteer personnel board, the human resource director, and the current town manager.

Town Clerk Nancy Oates expected a record Election Day turnout and it looks like she was right! As of Sept. 27, the number of registered voters in Duxbury was 11,089, according to Assistant Town Clerk Linda Salvati. That total could be increased by as many as a couple of hundred, with late registrants, she said.

The Duxbury 375th Celebration Committee will be presenting its third and final Candlelight Concert program Friday, Nov. 16, 7 p.m. at the Performing Arts Center. This concert will showcase the award-winning Duxbury High School music ensembles and faculty with special guest conductor Steven Karidoyanes.

Jack Conway Realtor’s Duxbury office on Rte. 3A is a new drop-off site for donations for the “Lion’s Share” Food Pantry on Summer Street. “Our late founder Jack Conway left an extraordinary legacy of community service and philanthropy on the South Shore,” said Conway Duxbury Manager Janet Pis-tone. “We want to follow his lead by helping the Duxbury Lions Club to feed needy residents in our town.” The Duxbury Lions Club established the “Lions Share” Food Pantry in June and has already helped serve many members of the community.
