We need your child's assistance to launch Rock Paper Scissor's "You Are Brave" campaign in response to the Boston Marathon tragedy. While we understand there may be children who are not aware of the tragedy, there will be many who know what happened, or who will learn about the events in the coming days.

Vigil for Peace for Boston Marathon Bombings

In responde to the Boston Marathon Bombings Monday afternoon, a vigil for peace will be held Tuesday night, April 16, from 7 to 8 p.m. on the front lawn of the First Parish Church on Route 3A. In case of bad weather, the vigil will be held inside the church. 

 

 
Selectmen sign contract for new town manager

Duxbury’s transition to its new town manager, René Read, took a large step forward this week with the final approval of his contract. On Monday, the Board of Selectmen voted unanimously to execute and sign a sevenpage contract to employ Read as the next town manager. He signed the contract at the selectmen’s meeting and will begin May 13.

State representatives and experts on environmental issues joined together last Thursday to inform residents of the proposed updates to the state’s bottle bill. Phil Sego, of the Mass. Sierra Club, Representative Jon Hecht of Watertown, Representative Josh Cutler, Sean Sylver of the Mass. Department of Environmental Protection and Claire Sullivan of the South Shore Recycling Cooperative, presented on the bottle bill at the Senior Center, highlighting the importance of citizen support.

Beach flooding

Half-marathon to benefit Alzheimer's programs

The Spring Tune-up Half is this Saturday March 30, walkers start at 8 a.m. and runners start at 9 a.m., registration on line at active.com or 7:30 a.m. day of race at the Duxbury Senior Center. We have 100 participants coming from all over Massachusetts and  New York. This event benefits the Alzheimer programs offered at the Duxbury Senior Center. We ask residents to welcome these runners and walkers and “share the road” Saturday from 8-11 a.m.
