DRHS museums open for summer

The Duxbury Rural and Historical Society announces the annual opening of its two museums—the King Caesar House (1809) and the Captain Gershom Bradford House (1808).  Trained docents will guide visitors through these remarkable 19th century houses that accurately reflect the days of Duxbury ship builders and sea captains.

Tooting our own horn!

The Duxbury Clipper float won the Margery Parcher Cup and first place in the maxi-float category during Saturday's July 4th parade.  Here are some photos of our "Celebrating Newspapers in American History"  float, which featured Draco the Dragon dressed as an old-fashioned newspaperman and a "working" printing press built by Chuck Nudd. Board mum on chief contract

There was no discussion of the contract of Police Chief Mark DeLuca at Monday’s Board of Selectmen’s meeting. The board did meet briefly in executive session at the end of the meeting, but the purpose was to discuss bargaining with union personnel (Chief DeLuca is not part of a union.) Only Personnel Administrator Jeannie Horne was present; neither DeLuca or his attorney were seen at the meeting.
