Bambino Buddy Ball wrapped up last weekend with a full schedule of games, awards, and the Brockton Rox.

The Duxbury Rural and Historical Society announces the annual opening of its two museums—the King Caesar House (1809) and the Captain Gershom Bradford House (1808).  Trained docents will guide visitors through these remarkable 19th century houses that accurately reflect the days of Duxbury ship builders and sea captains.

“I used to go to Sea World,” says Jeff Chandler.  “Now my vacation is the Marshfield Fair.”

The Duxbury Clipper float won the Margery Parcher Cup and first place in the maxi-float category during Saturday's July 4th parade.  Here are some photos of our "Celebrating Newspapers in American History"  float, which featured Draco the Dragon dressed as an old-fashioned newspaperman and a "working" printing press built by Chuck Nudd. The owner of Foodie’s received permission from the town this week to place displays of wine in various locations around his store instead of one designated area.

If you haven’t heard about the Duxbury Farmers and Artisans Market yet, you will on Wednesday July 1, when the opening bell is rung at 12:30 p.m.

Personnel issues continue to sharply divide selectmen, as a request to investigate the  town manager sparked harsh words.

There was no discussion of the contract of Police Chief Mark DeLuca at Monday’s Board of Selectmen’s meeting. The board did meet briefly in executive session at the end of the meeting, but the purpose was to discuss bargaining with union personnel (Chief DeLuca is not part of a union.) Only Personnel Administrator Jeannie Horne was present; neither DeLuca or his attorney were seen at the meeting.

South Shore Conservatory announces the program for the Duxbury Music Festival Opening Concert Friday, July 10, 8 pm, at the Duxbury Performing Arts Center.
