Junior Michela North had the biggest game of her high school career on Friday night in Duxbury’s 63-52 win over North Quincy, clinching the Keenan Division title for the Lady Dragons with her stellar performance.
Closing in on the 1000-point mark of her high school career, the Patriot League All-Star scored 31 points, grabbed 19 rebounds, blocked seven shots and dished out three assists in the deciding game, raising Duxbury’s record to 10-6 overall and 8-2 in the Patriot League. It is the team’s ninth win in its last 10 games.

The Duxbury girls’ hockey team faced its biggest challenge of the regular season on Friday afternoon at The Bog and came away with a 4-0 shutout win over the once-beaten Barnstable Red Raiders.
The victory solidifies Duxbury’s position as the top girls’ hockey team south of Boston, as the Red Raiders suffered their second loss in a week (Hingham) and saw their record drop to 10-2.

After a tough opening stretch of four non-league games (0-4), the girls’ basketball team started its Patriot League schedule and has a 2-1 league record after splitting a pair of games with Scituate and North Quincy.
Last Tuesday, the Lady Dragons faced an undefeated Scituate squad and stayed close for three quarters before their offense went south in the fourth quarter of a 44-36 loss to the Sailors.

They knew they had the talent. All they needed to do was rid themselves of the specter of being eliminated by Fontbonne two years in a row. The way they came out in the first period eliminated that worry, and starting the second period it looked like they were ready to get down to serious business.

The Duxbury Dragon football team won its 26th consecutive game on Saturday afternoon, demolishing Merrimack Valley league champion Tewksbury HS, 35-0, to win its second consecutive Super Bowl title and its third in the last four years. Led by senior QB Matt O’Keefe’s three TD passes and a smothering defense led by captains Max Randall, Reilly Naton, and James Burke, the Dragons dominated play throughout the first half, building a 7-0 first quarter lead and scoring three more times in the second quarter to blow the game wide open by halftime.

The Duxbury Dragons won their second straight Division II Super Bowl this afternoon with a 35-0 blow out of Tewksbury Memorial at Gillette Stadium. The Dragons scored 4 times in the second quarter to take a 28-0 half-time lead and then added another fourth quarter score to finish off the Redmen. Look for full coverage and photos in the Clipper. The Duxbury Dragons play this afternoon for the Division II Super Bowl against Tewksbury. The game is 3:30 p.m. at Gillette Stadium. If you need any additional motivation the Boston Globe has picked Tewskbury to win. A parking map for Gillette is available here.Tickets are $15 for adults and $12 for students and senior citizens. Parking is free and the ticket will give one a $3 discount at the Hall at Patriot Place on Saturday. The only entrance to the field will be through the ticket window near Patriot Place.

The Duxbury Dragons defeated King Philip High School, 7-0 on Tuesday afternoon in the MIAA East Division 2 semi-final. The Dragons will now advance to the DII Super Bowl at Gillette Stadium at 3:30 Saturday against the winner of Tewksbury vs. Reading. Stay tuned for details. |

They have put up ungodly offensive numbers during the 2011 season, but it was the defense that stole the spotlight last Thursday in Duxbury, as the Dragons won their 24th consecutive game with a 33-6 trouncing of Marshfield on Thanksgiving Day.
