Smarter Than a Duxbury Fifth Grader will be held on Thursday, March 14 from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at the Duxbury Performing Arts Center. The Alden PTA would like to welcome you to a night of laughter and fun as the Duxbury fifth graders show their mad skills in a challenge against some brave few who are willing to find out if they are smarter than a Duxbury fifth grader. Tickets are $10 per adult, $5 per child, $30 max per family. Participating fifth graders do not need to buy a ticket. Officials approve beach lease increase

Duxbury selectmen have agreed to support a $200,000 increase for the Duxbury beach lease, saying the money will be classified as a one-time expense this year to cover storm damage from the February blizzard and will come from the town’s free cash account. The lease agreement is a warrant article and residents can vote on it at the March 9 town meeting.
